सामान्य माणूस जगण्यासाठी धडपडत असतो. पुष्कळ वेळा ही धडपड केविलवाणी होते; आणि ती पाहणाऱ्याला हसू येते. अनेकदा माणूस आपल्या भोवतालच्या परिस्थिती जगण्याच्या हेतूने सुसंगती निर्माण करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो आणि त्याच्या नकळत विसंगती निर्माण होऊन बसते. त्यामुळेही तो हास्यास्पद ठरतो. अशा विनोदाला कारुण्याची एक झाक असते. पुष्कळ वेळा बेरकी माणसे स्वार्थासाठी इतरांना अनपेक्षितपणे चकवतात, हास्यास्पद बनवतात. तटस्थपणे पाहणाऱ्याला त्यांच्या गावरान चलाखपणाचे कौतुक वाटते. तो बेरकीपणा पाहून मन चकित होते. क्षणभर ओठांवर हसू फुटते. अतिशयोक्ती हा तर विनोदाचा आत्माच असतो. आनंद यादवांच्या प्रस्तुत संग्रहातील कथांतून जो विनोद निर्माण होतो, तो या स्वरूपाचा आहे. तो भाषानिष्ठ किंवा कोटिक्रमनिष्ठ नसून, प्रामुख्याने जीवननिष्ठ आहे. या कथांचा आशयच त्यामुळे विनोदयुक्त आहे. भेटणाऱ्या व्यक्ती, घडणाऱ्या घटना, निर्माण झालेली विपरीत स्थिती यांतून तो आकाराला येतो. त्यामुळे तो प्रसन्न आणि दिलखुलास; तरीही समाजातील विविध प्रवृत्तींवर प्रकाश टाकणारा वाटतो. Common man struggles hard to live a simple life. Many a times, his efforts to live make him piteous in others` minds. People laugh at him. Many a times, man tries to bring consistency in his surrounding for a smooth living which actually gives rise to discrepancy. This also makes a fool out of him. This type of humour always has a tinge of compassion to it. Many a times, smart people deceive innocent people for their selfishness, unknowingly, unexpectedly. A neutral person might enjoy their shrewdness and may even praise them. A smile appears on his lips for a fraction of second. Exaggeration is the soul of humour. Anand Yadav`s stories in this collection are a proof to this. His humour does not arise from the language, it is mainly related with the daytoday life. All the stories have a humourous meaning. The characters, the events, their adverse effects, all this binds together and creates humour. This humour is then fresh like a morning flower, yet throws light on the various mentalities of the people around us.
